Work experience

Changes to the work experience programme

Work Experience for 16 and 17 year-olds is currently paused for all students wishing to undertake a patient-facing placement. We are currently in the process of reviewing our processes and the associated risk assessments. We hope to reinstate this offer as soon as possible.

At University Hospitals Birmingham, we believe work experience is the best way to help you prepare for a career within healthcare. We want a talented and diverse workforce which reflects the community we serve, so we encourage applications from the widest range of backgrounds.

Work experience is a fantastic way to gain an insight into a wider range of career opportunities. It will help build your confidence and give you an understanding of the attitudes, behaviours and values that are expected in a healthcare setting. Work experience will help you to make informed choices on your future career options.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, we have made many changes to our available work experience programmes, including virtual activities.
