These programmes can help you to train for and/or find employment in the NHS.

Prince's Trust Get Into Hospital Services Programme

We're pleased to offer the Get Into Hospital Services Programme, working alongside the Prince’s Trust. This programme provides people aged 18 – 29 the background knowledge they need in order to apply for, and hopefully gain, employment within the NHS. 

Clients will receive a package of support via both the Healthcare Careers and Development team and the Prince’s Trust. This includes face-to-face training sessions at the Learning Hub, located next to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, and the Prince’s Trust facility in Digbeth, as well as one-to-one sessions via Microsoft Teams.

Delivery sessions include:

  • suitable career pathways within the NHS
  • job searching skills
  • the NHS profile and how to complete
  • the importance of infection control (AQA Cert)
  • communication skills
  • interview planning and preparation, and mock interview opportunities
  • awareness of the care certificate
  • life coaching
  • equality and diversity
  • an introduction to medical terminology
  • the importance of confidentiality
  • pastoral support and signposting

Healthcare Careers and Development Virtual Employability Programme

The Healthcare Careers and Development (HCCD) team is offering a 12-week employability programme to unemployed people virtually using Microsoft Teams. Once enrolled, students will be given a timetable of employability and vocational teaching sessions, as well as having a dedicated pastoral mentor allocated to support them with their transition from unemployment into work.

Sessions delivered include:

  • Clarity4D personality profiling
  • infection control
  • managing change
  • scenario-based questions and value-based interview skills
  • effective communication and overcoming barriers
  • team working
  • knowing your customer
  • understanding assertiveness
  • awareness of the care certificate
  • IT Level 1 Skills
